About The Event

Building Our Singapore
The Public Service In Action

That’s the event that I was working at for the past week.
My job was to provide desktop support to all the users at the exhibition.

The first day at work was very busy and stress.
All because the network was down frequently for a few machines.
Was trying to troubleshoot what cause it and there were people screwing out backsides, pressuring us for it to be up.
Router changed, cable changed.
Problem still can’t be solved.
In the end, most of the unsolvable problems were forced to use wireless.
At the end of the night, we found out there were some error or miscommunication or whatever it is in the configuration that were given to the event coordinator.

From the second day onwards, everything was fine.
Except for a particular machine using VPN.
Always caused the connection of the router down.
Until now I still don’t know what’s the cause of it.
And also after consulting a few guys, the answers I get still don’t really answer my question.

It was a pretty relax job.
No problems = Rest at Burger King.
I was practically sitting at Burger King the whole day when there was no calls for problem.
Althought some days I always need to attend to the stupid machine that was using the VPN like every half or one hour.
Even went to the library to borrow a few books to read.

Saturday was quite “Fun”.
There were delegates from Brunei visiting the exhibtion.
And as usual, they wanted a perfect show to be put on.
And as usual, the machine have to be down at that moment.
That machine using VPN pulled down another machine from the same router.
But everything was fine when I came out with a perfect solution.
Just in time for the girl at REACH to do her presentation to the VIPs.
And also just in time, the machine using VPN was up went the VIPs were visiting that booth.
*Phew*

Singapore Idols 2006 were there on Saturday too.
Hady and Jonathan, promoting the SCAPE for MCYS.
Jonathan did a mandarin cover of Wang Lee Hom’s Wei Yi.
Hady sang his original single You Gave Me Wings.
And I must say Hady sang much better than Jonathan.
Maybe Jonathan shouldn’t sing mandarin songs.

Many things happened on Saturday.
But I guess it was better left unsaid.

Sunday, there was a performance by Xtomic.
I remember seeing Starmist’s blog and Youtube about Xtomic.
Now I know what they are are.

Many thanks to the people I worked with.
Daniel, Charles, Mervin & Joyce, it’s been fun having you all around.
And to Jeffery too. Cheers.

Met a couple of people there too.
A secondary schoolmate who was also working for gbiz I think.
Jiaying, my churchmate & sister’s exclassmate.
Juanz who was just passingby.
Yunqi who came down to have a look.
And my cousin’s Dad with his gf. Oh well…

It’s actually quite fun to work in events, but stress too lar.

Glad to be able to meet James.
Hopefully I’m able to get a new job soon.
